Florida Man Charged with Mother's Murder

A 32-year-old man, Edwin Amaya, has been arrested and charged with premeditated murder after allegedly running over the mother of his child, Brenda Hernandez Amaya, during a heated argument in Pompano Beach, Florida. The incident occurred on September 21, when Amaya reportedly backed his Ford F-250 truck into Hernandez Amaya after a dispute about their shared child, killing her in front of their 2-year-old son and her other children. Another victim, 32-year-old Omar Munguia-Henrique, attempted to intervene but was also struck and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses and family members indicated that Amaya was intoxicated at the time of the incident. After fleeing the scene, he was apprehended nearby by law enforcement. Amaya is currently being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.
