HIVE Hits 20 EH/s, Expands into AI Data Centers

HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. has surpassed 20 exahash per second (EH/s) of global Bitcoin mining capacity—about 2% of the network—mining roughly 9 BTC per day at ~18 J/TH with an estimated 55% margin after electricity. The milestone follows deployment of ASICs at its Phase 3 Valenzuela facility in Paraguay, powered by Itaipu hydroelectricity; HIVE says Phase 3 is substantially complete, has secured about 200 MW, and is on track to reach 25 EH/s and roughly 12 BTC/day by U.S. Thanksgiving. CEO Frank Holmes said the Paraguay expansion responded to rising energy pressures and policy shifts elsewhere, and the company plans to straddle Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing/AI workloads rather than exit mining. HIVE is converting former Canadian mining sites into AI-ready Tier‑3 data centers in partnership with Bell Canada and Cohere to host Nvidia chips and add capacity in Manitoba and Eastern Canada. Operational progress and growth plans have helped lift the stock in recent trading, including an approximately 5% after-hours uptick.
