Stellantis Nears CEO Choice With Filosa Leading

Stellantis is nearing the end of its CEO search, with Antonio Filosa, the Chief Operating Officer for North America, now the leading candidate. Filosa, who started at Fiat in 1999 and has held senior roles since Stellantis' 2021 formation, has been credited with improving relations with the United Auto Workers. The automaker has faced major challenges following the ouster of former CEO Carlos Tavares, including a steep drop in market capitalization from $93 billion to $28 billion and declining sales. Despite Filosa's prominence in the process, the board led by Chairman John Elkann is still considering both internal and external candidates. The ongoing lack of permanent leadership has stalled decision-making, prompting growing urgency to appoint a new CEO. Stellantis has reaffirmed that a final decision will be made by the end of the first half of 2025.
