Loyola Tennis Star Killed by Repeat DUI Offender
Braun Levi, an 18-year-old Loyola High School senior and top tennis player, was killed in Manhattan Beach after being struck by Jenia Belt, a 33-year-old whose license was suspended due to a prior DUI and who has previous DUI and hit-and-run convictions. Levi was walking with a friend at the time and died at the hospital despite attempts to save his life. Belt was arrested at the scene and faces felony DUI and murder charges. Levi, who had recently lost his home in the Palisades Fire, was a league tennis champion and active student leader. His death has led to widespread grief in the community, with a vigil held in his honor. Levi was set to graduate in a month and attend the University of Virginia in the fall.
