Japan secured a dominant 55-28 victory over Canada in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup, marking Eddie Jones' first win since his return as head coach. The Brave Blossoms raced to a 31-0 lead within the first half hour, with tries from Malo Tuitama, Warner Dearns, and others, before Canada managed to score just before halftime. Despite a second-half rally from Canada, which saw them win that period, they could not recover from Japan's early onslaught. Seungsin Lee contributed significantly with six conversions and a penalty, while Warner Dearns scored twice. Japan's victory places them at the top of Pool B, with their next match against the USA scheduled for September 7. Canada will also continue their tournament journey against the USA on August 31.
