Former USC Star Kevin Long Dies at 69
Kevin Long, a former running back for the University of South Carolina and the New York Jets, has passed away at the age of 69. Long made history in 1975 as the first Gamecock to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season, finishing with 1,133 yards, and he ranks 10th on the school's all-time rushing list with 2,372 yards. He was drafted by the Jets in 1977, where he played for five seasons, accumulating 2,190 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns before continuing his career in the USFL. He is remembered fondly by friends and family, including his wife Frankie, with whom he shared four children. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
