Jamie Lee Curtis Reveals Late Mother’s Link to 2018 Camp Fire Movie
Jamie Lee Curtis, who produced the film "The Lost Bus," discovered a surprising personal connection between the movie's true story and her late mother, Janet Leigh. The film, starring Matthew McConaughey and based on the 2018 Camp Fire in California, tells of a school bus driver and teacher rescuing children from the wildfire. At the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival premiere, Curtis met the real individuals behind the story, including Kevin McKay, who shared his last happy memory involving Curtis's 2018 "Halloween" film. Curtis also learned from teacher Mary Ludwig that her father once dated Curtis's mother, Janet Leigh, before she became famous, revealing a connection rooted in Merced, California. Curtis described this moment as a profound "connect-the-dots" experience that underscored the larger significance of the film and its story. The film will be released in select theaters on September 19, 2025, and on Apple TV+ on October 3, 2025.
