Norwegian Cruise Line Plans Major Expansion at Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) officially christened its newest ship, the Norwegian Aqua, in Miami and announced significant expansion plans for its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2025. The enhancements will include a new welcome center, an expansive pool area with a swim-up bar and family splash pad, and an island-wide tram system for easier navigation. Additionally, the adults-only Vibe Beach Club and the recreational Horizon Park will be introduced, aimed at providing guests of all ages with more activities and relaxation options. NCL President David J. Herrera emphasized that these upgrades will enhance the guest experience and are in anticipation of an increase in annual visitor numbers, projected to exceed one million by 2026. The expansion plans coincide with the completion of a new multi-ship pier to improve access to the island.
