Two fatal crashes on California freeways leave one dead, one injured

A fatal crash occurred on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista on Sunday night, resulting in one death and injuries to the driver. The California Highway Patrol reported that around 10:36 p.m., a 22-year-old woman driving a Tesla veered off the road, struck an attenuator, and collided with a guardrail. Witnesses described the car as being driven recklessly prior to the accident, which led to the vehicle catching fire. A good Samaritan attempted to rescue a female passenger from the burning vehicle, but she did not survive. The driver was later arrested under suspicion of alcohol and/or drug involvement in the crash, which is still under investigation by authorities. The name of the deceased passenger is being withheld pending family notification.
