Summit Summer Festival Marks 45th Anniversary

The 45th annual Summit Summer Festival is set for Saturday, August 17, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Summit Community Center, offering a day of old-time rural fun and community engagement. Attendees can enjoy live music, craft booths, art exhibits, pie and silent auctions, and a raffle for the hand-quilted 'Autumn Symphony,' all supporting local scholarships and projects. Activities cater to all ages, including a Festival Parade, a watermelon-eating contest, and opportunities to bid on baked goods. This year’s event features a T-shirt designed by local artist Earl Newman, which is expected to sell out quickly. Organizers remind attendees to bring drinking water and snacks, as dogs and alcohol are not permitted on-site. The festival not only celebrates local culture but also strengthens community ties within the small, tight-knit town of Summit.
