Sale Defence Coach Byron McGuigan Joins England Coaching Staff

Byron McGuigan, a former Scotland wing and current defence coach at Sale, will join England's coaching staff for the November internationals and Six Nations while maintaining his role at Sale. He will focus on the collision area and enhancing skills and tactical understanding of the back three, working closely with assistant coach Andrew Strawbridge. McGuigan, who retired as a player in 2023 after over 100 appearances for Sale and 10 Scotland caps, initially joined England's coaching setup during the successful summer tour of Argentina and the United States. England head coach Steve Borthwick praised McGuigan's game intelligence and passion for improving players, highlighting his recent playing experience as beneficial for connecting with players. McGuigan expressed gratitude to Sale for supporting his dual role, viewing it as a valuable opportunity to develop as a coach while contributing to both teams. England's upcoming fixtures include tests against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Argentina at Twickenham.
