San Antonio Marathon Replaces Rock 'n' Roll Series

San Antonio is set to replace the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon with a new San Antonio Marathon beginning in December 2025, aiming to become a premier destination for elite runners. This new marathon will feature distinct themed miles, showcasing local culture with elements like mariachis and folklorico dancers, and will serve as a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon. The announcement was made at Civic Park, accompanied by a nighttime run involving local runners and Olympian Meb Keflezighi. The Running Event, North America's leading running convention, will also relocate to San Antonio from Austin in 2025, further establishing the city's reputation as a hub for running. Local leaders, including Mayor Ron Nirenberg, expressed that the city's welcoming atmosphere and mild weather make it an ideal location for such events. The Rock 'n' Roll Running Series will hold its final event in San Antonio in 2024 before the transition to the new marathon.
