S.W.A.T. Exiles Spinoff Cast Unveiled, Filming Begins Soon
Sony Pictures Television has announced a 10-episode spinoff of the CBS drama S.W.A.T., titled S.W.A.T. Exiles, featuring Shemar Moore reprising his role as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. The storyline follows Hondo, who is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit comprised of untested, unpredictable young recruits, tasked with saving the program that defined his career. Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit, original stars from the original series, will guest star in the premiere episode, while a new main cast includes Lucy Barrett, Adain Bradley, Zyra Gorecki, Freddy Miyares, and Ronen Rubinstein, known for his role in 9-1-1: Lone Star. Kevin Tancharoen will direct the first episode, with production beginning later this month in Los Angeles, preserving jobs from the original series’ crew. Some original cast members expressed disappointment about the timing and rollout of the spinoff announcement, feeling overlooked despite their contributions to the original series. Moore addressed fan concerns about cast changes on social media, emphasizing the necessity of change for growth and comparing his role to a quarterback leading a team through transitions.
