Nebraska Teacher, Boyfriend Charged in Student Sex Trafficking

Elizabeth Jamie Love, 36, a transition coordinator and teacher of the deaf with Educational Service Unit 11, and her boyfriend Jarid "Jack" Krause were arrested by Holdrege police and charged with sex trafficking of a 16-year-old student; Love also faces a count of sexual grooming by a school employee. The investigation, assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Department of Justice, began after the student reported weeks of inappropriate interactions and said she had developed a close relationship with Love since seventh grade. An arrest affidavit alleges the student overheard an August phone call in which Krause said he wanted to have sex with her, and that on Oct. 11 Love drove the student to her home where Krause led her to an upstairs bedroom and made a sexual request that the student declined. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Love following the student to her vehicle and later driving her home; the student says Love apologized, warned her to keep the incident quiet, and gave her five $20 bills, which Love has said was a gift for a phone. ESU-11 has placed Love on administrative leave, prosecutors are pursuing charges, and the case remains under investigation as officials seek additional information.
