Queen Camilla Visits Maggie's Cancer Centres, Meets Patients in Scotland

Queen Camilla, as president of the cancer support charity Maggie's, visited the Maggie’s Fife centre at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, during Royal Week to meet cancer patients, staff, and volunteers. Despite heavy rain, she praised the invaluable work of the centres, which provide free psychological, emotional, and practical support in a comforting space away from hospital rigors. The centre in Fife, established in 2006 and designed by Dame Zaha Hadid, was highlighted for its role in helping patients and their families, including a young people's group that particularly interested the Queen. Camilla was warmly welcomed by Dame Laura Lee, the charity’s chief executive, and honorary patrons such as campaigner Sarah Brown and broadcaster Kirsty Wark. The Queen expressed gratitude to volunteers, emphasizing their essential contributions, and engaged closely with visitors sharing their experiences. This visit is part of Queen Camilla’s ongoing commitment since 2008, having visited 17 of the 24 Maggie’s centres nationwide.
