HBO Announces Harry Potter Casting, Filming in 2025

HBO has officially announced the casting for its upcoming Harry Potter television series, featuring several renowned actors in key roles. John Lithgow will portray Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu will take on the role of Severus Snape, and Nick Frost will appear as Rubeus Hagrid. Additional cast includes Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. The series promises a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels and will start filming in the summer of 2025, aiming for a 2026 premiere. However, casting for the main trio—Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger—remains open as over 30,000 auditions have been submitted, and further announcements are anticipated.
