ScotRail Network Outage Disrupts Ticketing, Busiest Scottish Stations

ScotRail has experienced a network outage affecting ticketing and payment systems at several of its busiest stations, including Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street, and Edinburgh Waverley. Passengers have faced difficulties purchasing tickets both via the ScotRail app and at station machines, with some reporting that information screens and live departure boards are showing inaccurate or blank data. The disruption has also impacted the ability to check journey times and pay by card at ticket machines. ScotRail attributed the problem to an issue with its internet service provider affecting connectivity at a small number of locations nationwide. Alan Manclark, ScotRail's head of IT, stated that the supplier is actively working to resolve the issue and apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers. Commuters have expressed frustration with the lack of internet connectivity and operational ticket machines during this outage.
