Primus Debuts New Drummer John Hoffman at Tool's Live in The Sand Festival

Primus debuted their new drummer, John Hoffman, during their first performance of 2025 at Tool's inaugural Live in the Sand festival in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The set began with Tool's drummer Danny Carey joining the band for the first four songs, showcasing his talents while also welcoming Hoffman for a double-drum performance on a couple of tracks. Hoffman took over for the next three songs, marking his official entrance into the band. Despite the excitement of Hoffman's debut, Tool's subsequent set drew criticism from fans who expected two unique performances and were disappointed by repeated songs from the previous night. The festival features other notable acts, but Primus's set has been highlighted as a significant moment of the weekend. Primus will continue to tour this spring alongside A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
