Family Members Deny Murder of Sara Sharif

The murder trial of Sara Sharif, a 10-year-old girl allegedly abused and killed by her father, stepmother, and uncle, continues as neighbors testify about her demeanor before her death. Judith Lozeron, a neighbor, stated she never saw Sara smile and noted she often wore a hijab, which was allegedly used to hide injuries to her face. The court heard that Sara was homeschooled due to bullying at school, with her family claiming it was for her safety. Lozeron observed that Sara seemed isolated from her family and only occasionally saw her outside doing chores. Sara was found dead on August 10, 2023, having suffered at least 71 external injuries over a prolonged period of alleged abuse. The defendants deny the charges of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
