Knoxville Pedestrian Killed in April's Second Collision on N. Broadway
A 44-year-old man, identified as Michael Young, was killed after being struck by a Chevy SUV while crossing North Broadway near Atlantic Avenue in Knoxville outside of a crosswalk. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m., and Young was pronounced dead at the scene; no additional injuries were reported. The SUV driver remained at the site and cooperated with authorities, while Knoxville Police Department (KPD) investigators, crime scene technicians, and personnel from the Medical Examiner's Office conducted a thorough investigation. The crash led to a temporary closure of all lanes on Broadway between Atlantic Avenue and Chickamauga Avenue. This marks the second pedestrian-related collision in the same area in April, raising concerns about pedestrian safety on that stretch of road. The KPD continues to investigate to fully determine the circumstances of the fatal incident.
