Two Men Arrested for Smuggling Fentanyl, Meth at Ysleta Port of Entry
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Ysleta Port of Entry in El Paso recently arrested two men attempting to smuggle narcotics. A 41-year-old U.S. citizen was caught with approximately one-third of a pound of fentanyl hidden in his rectum while crossing from Mexico on March 31. After a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers, a search warrant led to the discovery of the drugs following an X-ray examination. In a separate incident, a 26-year-old U.S. citizen was apprehended on March 30 for trying to smuggle about one-third of a pound of methamphetamine concealed between his buttocks. Both men are facing charges related to drug smuggling and have been turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further processing. CBP officials emphasized the importance of officer training and canine support in intercepting such smuggling attempts.
