Netflix Directs Ronda Rousey Biopic From Her Script

Netflix is producing a long-anticipated biopic on UFC and WWE superstar Ronda Rousey, directed by Augustine Frizzell, known for her work on HBO's Euphoria and the upcoming Netflix series The Boroughs. The film will be based on Rousey's memoirs, My Fight/Your Fight and Our Fight, chronicling her journey from Olympic judo medalist to UFC champion and WWE trailblazer, including her recovery from a significant loss to Holly Holm. Rousey herself wrote the screenplay in just seven days after studying screenwriting techniques, impressing agents despite being a first-time writer. The project was initially set up at Paramount in 2015 but faced delays and executive changes before Netflix acquired the rights. Chernin Entertainment is producing the film, which aims to authentically capture Rousey's perseverance and impact on women's MMA and wrestling, including her historic role in the first women's WrestleMania main event. No official release date has been announced yet.
