Brit Deportation After Ryanair Denies Passport Retrieval Morocco
Rebecca McCurry, a 22-year-old British holidaymaker from Scotland, was deported from Morocco after she realized she had left her passport on her Ryanair flight shortly after landing in Marrakesh. Despite notifying airport and Ryanair staff within five minutes, she was not allowed to reboard the plane to retrieve it, with staff claiming a thorough search found nothing, although the airline later admitted she had misplaced the passport onboard. Rebecca contends it was impossible that the plane was properly searched, as the passport was later found in the same spot by passengers on the return flight. During the ensuing ordeal, she was interrogated by border police who intimidated her, causing her to pass out multiple times, and she was eventually deported to Manchester Airport after an 11-hour wait. The incident caused significant stress for Rebecca, who suffers from chronic pain, and she warns others to keep close hold of their passports and documents. Ryanair maintains that she was correctly denied entry to the country due to the missing passport.
