Memorial Service for Alex Salmond Set
The Proclaimers will perform their pro-independence anthem 'Cap In Hand' at the memorial service for former First Minister Alex Salmond, held on November 30 at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh. Salmond, who died of a heart attack at the age of 69 on October 12 while attending a conference in North Macedonia, previously had a private family funeral on October 29. The service will also feature performances by Dougie MacLean and Sheena Wellington, along with tributes from friends and political allies including Kenny MacAskill and Conservative MP Sir David Davis. The family expressed their gratitude for public interest but noted that attendance would be limited, with the event set to be live-streamed. The memorial will commence at 11am and is expected to last about an hour, coinciding with a second memorial event organized by the Scottish Resistance in Glasgow.
