ULEMCo Launches Mobile Hydrogen Refuelling for Off-Road Construction

ULEMCo has launched HyTANKa®, a mobile hydrogen refueling vehicle designed to deliver high-pressure hydrogen directly to off-road construction and industrial machinery, addressing a major barrier in hydrogen adoption: the lack of on-site fueling options. Powered by a hydrogen dual-fuel engine, HyTANKa® operates independently without relying on fixed infrastructure and is road-legal under ADR regulations, enabling flexible and safe transport to remote or early-stage construction sites. This innovation supports the decarbonization of the construction sector, which contributes nearly 39% of global carbon emissions, by facilitating the use of hydrogen-powered equipment such as dual-fuel excavators and fuel cell generators. The vehicle's two-way booster system allows it to refuel machinery at pressures up to 350 bar and refill from lower-pressure hydrogen sources, making it compatible with various upstream supply chains. HyTANKa® will be unveiled at the HEA 2025 Annual Conference in London, marking a significant step toward practical hydrogen infrastructure that can help meet net-zero emission targets. By enabling on-site hydrogen refueling, ULEMCo is pioneering solutions that could accelerate the broader adoption of clean energy technologies in sectors traditionally difficult to decarbonize.
