Newcastle Pursues £90m Premier League Duo Ahead Champions League Campaign
Newcastle United are actively targeting major reinforcements this summer, focusing on high-profile attackers Anthony Elanga of Nottingham Forest and Joao Pedro of Brighton, with a potential combined outlay of around £90 million, signaling their ambition to compete at the top of the Premier League and in Europe. Elanga, who impressed at Forest last season, is seen as a particularly good fit due to his relationship with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, while Pedro's versatility and goal-scoring ability make him highly sought-after, though competition from Chelsea is also expected. Newcastle are also monitoring Juventus defender Federico Gatti, who could be available for approximately €35 million, as the Italian club faces financial constraints. To fund these moves and comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, Newcastle are set to offload several players, including Lloyd Kelly and Jamal Lewis, with midfielders Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock also attracting interest from other Premier League clubs. The Magpies' recent success, including a Carabao Cup win and Champions League qualification, is driving their aggressive transfer strategy as they look to build on their strong 2024/25 campaign. Departures of fringe players are seen as key to both raising funds and maintaining financial stability amid tightening league regulations.
