Juvenile Critical in Indianapolis Shooting; Child Abuse Arrest

A juvenile was critically injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis, with police responding to the scene just before 1 p.m. The victim was transported to Riley Hospital for Children, and the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation. This incident occurred less than two hours after a separate fatal shooting nearby, with no suspect information released. In a separate case, Tameria Barnett in Harris County has been arrested and charged with child abuse after a 4-year-old child in her care was found with life-threatening injuries. The child's biological mother is currently in jail, and the child has been under Barnett's care since September 2024. Both cases highlight ongoing concerns about child safety and gun violence in their respective communities.
