Simon Pegg Hopes New Paramount CEO Spurs Kelvin Star Trek Sequel

Simon Pegg, who portrayed Scotty and co-wrote Star Trek Beyond, expressed optimism about the possibility of a fourth Star Trek movie set in the Kelvin universe, especially with David Ellison, a known Star Trek fan, now chairman and CEO of Paramount Skydance. Pegg shared at the STLV: Trek to Vegas 2025 Convention that scripts are reportedly in development and that it would be a welcome opportunity to reunite with his co-stars, despite the tragic loss of Anton Yelchin in 2016. The last Kelvin timeline film, Star Trek Beyond, was released in 2016, and since then, various directors including Quentin Tarantino and Noah Hawley have been linked to Star Trek projects, though no film has yet materialized. Paramount is also developing a separate prequel film about the Federation's origins. Pegg emphasized the personal desire to reconnect with the cast and the fans, suggesting that the timing is now right for the franchise to return to the big screen under new leadership. The new management at Paramount, led by Ellison following Skydance's acquisition, appears supportive of revitalizing the Kelvin timeline movies.
