Investigation Launched Into Fraudulent Doctor Registrations
The Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) is embroiled in a significant scandal involving the registration of unqualified individuals as doctors using forged documents. An investigation revealed that many applicants, including individuals with only a 12th-grade education, managed to secure medical registrations by providing fake No Objection Certificates and registration credentials from other states. A five-member committee, formed by Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, has uncovered serious procedural flaws, leading to the suspension of RMC registrar Dr. Rajesh Sharma and two other officials. Reports indicate that over 12,000 registrations were processed, with many lacking proper verification, resulting in the issuance of fraudulent registrations. The health department is currently compiling data on the extent of the fraud, with preliminary findings suggesting that more than 3,000 applications have been pending for over a year while others were processed quickly. The state government is committed to thoroughly investigating the matter and addressing the systemic issues identified in the registration process.
