Jury Selected for Highland Park Shooting Trial

Jury selection has concluded in the murder trial of Robert Crimo III, who is accused of killing seven people and injuring dozens at the Highland Park Fourth of July parade in 2022. The 12-member jury, along with six alternates, includes diverse individuals such as a hospice nurse and a trucking company owner. Crimo, who faces 21 counts of first-degree murder and 48 counts of attempted murder, was absent during the final day of jury selection but was reminded by the judge that the trial would proceed without him. Testimonies from surviving victims are expected, with the trial projected to last three to five weeks. Despite initial biases expressed by some jurors, they committed to judging based on evidence presented. The defense rejected a plea deal last year that would have resulted in a life sentence.
