Pubudu Dassanayake Reappointed USA Men’s Cricket Head Coach

Pubudu Dassanayake, former Sri Lanka and Canada international cricketer, has been re-appointed as the head coach of the USA men's national cricket team, succeeding Stuart Law. This marks his second tenure with USA Cricket, during which he previously helped the team achieve One Day International (ODI) status and build a competitive squad. Dassanayake brings extensive coaching experience from Associate nations, having led Nepal to their maiden T20 World Cup and Canada to regain ODI status and qualify for their first T20 World Cup. His return comes as USA Cricket prepares for upcoming international fixtures, including the 2026 T20 World Cup and qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup, aiming to capitalize on the momentum gained from co-hosting the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. USA Cricket CEO Johnathan Atkeison emphasized Dassanayake's experience and vision as key to achieving these goals, while Dassanayake expressed enthusiasm about working closely with players and staff to further develop USA Cricket. The appointment also coincides with the growth of domestic cricket leagues such as Major League Cricket, which have expanded the American talent pool.
