Second suspect arrested in deadly Pierce County house party shooting
Two separate fatal house party shootings in March 2025 resulted in multiple arrests of teenage suspects in Utah and Washington. In West Jordan, Utah, Vincent Caleb Vasquez, 18, was arrested for allegedly aiding Tayden Bentley Huntsman, the accused shooter and fellow gang member, in escaping police and disposing of the murder weapon after the shooting death of 19-year-old Hugo Lucero; both are linked to the 600-block gang (KUTV). Meanwhile, in Pierce County, Washington, a second suspect, 18, was arrested in Des Moines for his role in a mass shooting at a Spanaway house party that left two teens dead and four others injured, following the earlier arrest of a 17-year-old charged with two counts of first-degree murder (KING 5, The News Tribune, KOMO News, MyNorthwest). Surveillance and witness statements were crucial in identifying suspects in both incidents. The Pierce County shooting was preceded by reports of a street fight and multiple 911 calls about the party's size and noise, with neighbors expressing regret that the event was not shut down earlier (KOMO News, The News Tribune). Both cases highlight concerns over youth violence, large unsupervised gatherings, and gang involvement.
