Joe Ryan Cleared for Saturday Start After Illness
Minnesota Twins pitcher Joe Ryan was scratched from his scheduled Thursday start against the Baltimore Orioles due to flu-like symptoms, with Bailey Ober taking his place and holding Baltimore to two runs (one earned) over five innings as the Twins won 5-2. The illness has affected several players in the Twins' clubhouse, including outfielder Harrison Bader earlier in the week. With Ober moving up, Chris Paddack is set to start Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Joe Ryan has been cleared to return to the rotation for Saturday's game if he remains healthy. The Twins have managed these disruptions through flexible rotation planning without making a roster move. Ryan has had a strong season so far, posting a 2.93 ERA and recording 47 strikeouts in 40 innings.
