Two-Alarm Grass Fire Burns 20 Acres Near Miami Executive Airport
A significant grass fire erupted Wednesday afternoon in Southwest Miami-Dade County near Southwest 127th Avenue and 128th Street, just east of Miami Executive Airport. Firefighters from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, supported by the Florida Forest Service, responded with over 20 fire crews to battle the flames, which had burned at least one acre, with some reports estimating the affected area between 20 to 30 acres. Thick smoke from the fire was visible for miles, prompting officials to advise residents, especially those with respiratory issues, to stay indoors and keep air conditioning systems in recirculation mode. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and nearby homes have not been affected. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The situation remains active with firefighting efforts ongoing.
