Man Arrested in Detroit for Overton's Murder
Jeremiah Diago Blanks, 20, has been arrested in Detroit, Michigan, and charged with felony first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of former Clemson wide receiver Diondre Overton. The arrest was made by the Guilford County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, and Blanks is currently held in the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, Michigan, pending extradition to North Carolina. Overton, 26, was killed during a party on September 7 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and was pronounced dead at the scene despite receiving immediate medical aid. Overton was a notable player at Clemson University, contributing to two national title-winning teams and later playing professionally in the USFL. The investigation into the circumstances of Overton's death is still ongoing, with a press conference scheduled to provide further details.
