Over 60 students from the Girijana Ashram School for girls in Jamiguda, Araku Valley, were hospitalized with symptoms of food poisoning, likely caused by contaminated egg curry served for dinner. The students, aged between six and twelve, experienced nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain shortly after the meal on Friday night. District officials and medical staff responded promptly, ensuring all affected students received treatment, with their conditions now reported as stable. In light of this incident, district authorities have promised to enhance hygiene standards in hostels and have committed to implementing monitoring policies for food served. Additionally, one student was diagnosed with malaria and is receiving special care. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the food contamination.
