Ramchandra Kakrani, a 75-year-old petrol pump owner, was found murdered in his car on August 26, with cash and valuables missing, prompting an investigation by the Naigaon police. The main suspect, his driver Mukesh Khubchandani, was arrested along with accomplice Anil Thapa in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, while attempting to sell stolen items worth ₹15 lakh. The trio had planned the robbery after meeting in Nepal and executed the murder after picking up Thapa and another accomplice, Ramlal Yadav, on the evening of August 25. Kakrani was strangled in his vehicle, and the suspects fled after confirming his death. CCTV footage played a crucial role in tracing their movements, leading to their capture. Khubchandani has a criminal record dating back to 2012, raising concerns about his pattern of criminal behavior.
