Massachusetts Man Wins $2 Million in Powerball

Paul Corcoran of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, won a total of $2 million after accidentally purchasing two Powerball tickets with the same numbers for the July 9 drawing, each matching all five white balls for $1 million before taxes. Corcoran, who thought his original multi-draw ticket had expired, claimed his winnings on July 11 and has yet to decide how to spend the money. In addition to Corcoran, there were six other $1 million 'Match 5' winners in California, Florida, Illinois, and Nebraska. No one won the Powerball jackpot, which rolled over to an estimated $288 million for the next draw. The supermarket and gas station where Corcoran bought his tickets each received a $10,000 bonus. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
