Northamptonshire Police Launch Major Operation at 2025 British Grand Prix

A comprehensive policing operation is underway at the 2025 Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with around 480,000 attendees expected over four days. Northamptonshire Police are deploying uniformed and plainclothed officers, armed personnel, search teams, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition units, alongside live facial recognition technology that scans faces to identify individuals on watchlists, aiming to ensure public safety. The event also features concerts and a large crowd expected for the main race on Sunday, prompting robust traffic management and security measures. Planning for this operation began immediately after last year’s event, incorporating crime data and debriefs to enhance effectiveness. Separately, UK police forces are conducting Operation Spotlight throughout July, targeting the 'Fatal Four' driving offenses—speeding, distracted driving, drink and drug driving, and seatbelt violations—using coordinated enforcement efforts to reduce road casualties during the period with the highest incidence of serious road accidents.
