Avianca Launches New Latin America-US Seasonal Routes
Avianca Airlines has expanded its routes between the United States and Latin America, offering new non-stop seasonal flights from major U.S. hubs such as New York JFK, Miami, Orlando, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth to cities including Cali, Cartagena, Medellin, San Pedro Sula, San Salvador, Guatemala City, and Bogotá. These new routes, operational since early summer 2025, provide greater connectivity across a network of over 160 destinations, with competitive pricing such as $99 one-way tickets from JFK to San Pedro Sula. Meanwhile, easyJet launched a new twice-weekly service between Rennes, France, and Manchester, UK, marking the first of three new routes from Brittany, which aims to enhance tourism and travel convenience between these regions. Travelers considering trips to Colombia should note the U.S. Department of State's updated Level 3 travel advisory, warning of violent crime, kidnapping, and terrorist threats in certain regions, with some areas rated Level 4 and deemed unsafe for travel. Despite geopolitical challenges such as Middle East tensions, the global airline industry has seen a 5% increase in passenger demand year-over-year in May 2025, with international flights growing 6.7%, while the U.S. domestic market experienced a slight decline. This mixed aviation outlook underscores ongoing opportunities and risks for travelers in both Latin America and Europe.
