Manchester United Tops Football Arrests for 2024–25

Manchester United supporters had the highest number of football-related arrests in England and Wales during the 2024–25 season, with 121 arrests, overtaking West Ham, which had led in arrests for the previous three years. Manchester City recorded 94 arrests, and West Ham 77. The total number of football-related arrests dropped by 11% to 1,932, the first decline since fans returned after the Covid-19 pandemic, but incidents at matches rose by 18%. Banning orders increased by 12% to 2,439, the highest since 2012–13, with West Ham fans receiving 112 and Manchester United 108. Public disorder was the most common offence, and arrests for possession of Class A drugs reached their highest level since the offence was classified as Schedule 1. These trends highlight ongoing concerns about matchday disorder despite the drop in total arrests.
