Gurnee Teen Charged with Attempted Murder in Family Shooting
An 18-year-old named Francis Lodesky has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery after allegedly shooting a 61-year-old family member in the face inside their home near Gurnee, Illinois. The victim was using his cellphone in his bedroom when Lodesky, who reportedly had expressed a desire to kill someone, entered and shot him with a .410-gauge revolver loaded with birdshot. The victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive. Law enforcement recovered the firearm used along with more than 50 other guns from the residence. Lodesky was taken into custody and is being held at the Lake County Jail pending a court hearing, with prosecutors planning to petition to keep him in custody. Authorities have indicated the shooting appeared to be unprovoked, and additional charges may be filed against Lodesky.
