Missing US soldiers' fate unclear after vehicle retrieved in Lithuania
The U.S. Army is currently searching for four soldiers who went missing during a training exercise in Pabradė, Lithuania. After a six-day effort, their armored vehicle, an M88 Hercules, was recovered from a swamp, but there is still no information about the soldiers' status. Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovilė Šakalienė confirmed the vehicle was pulled ashore and stated that U.S. investigators are on-site to determine the circumstances of the incident. Complications during the recovery included challenging swamp conditions, requiring specialized equipment for extraction. While investigations are ongoing, there is heightened concern for the soldiers' families, and both U.S. and Lithuanian officials have called for patience as they gather more information. The situation is sensitive, with a pre-trial investigation launched regarding the soldiers' fate.
