Fox River Search Resumes for Missing Kayaker in St. Charles

Emergency crews have been conducting an extensive search for a missing kayaker who fell into the Fox River near Ferson Creek in St. Charles after his kayak capsized Tuesday night. The St. Charles Fire Department received the call around 9:36 p.m. and immediately launched a coordinated water rescue operation involving rescue boats, divers, underwater drones, and sonar equipment, with assistance from 29 area fire departments. The search continued overnight and resumed Wednesday morning, transitioning from rescue to recovery efforts as the individual has not been located. Officials reported that the missing kayaker may have been fishing at the time of the incident, and another kayak and possibly a motorboat were also present. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is leading the ongoing search, and the investigation remains active. One kayaker was rescued, but the search for the other continues.
