Nokia, Kongsberg Sign MoU Advancing 5G Tactical Defence Communications

Nokia and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing advanced 5G-based tactical communication solutions for defense organizations and allied nations. The partnership aims to simplify the deployment of secure, resilient, and interoperable battlefield networks, supporting applications such as secure voice, real-time data, unmanned systems, and sensors. Both companies plan to participate in European Defense Fund initiatives, including the 5G COMPAD and Federated Advanced Cyber Physical Test Range (FACT) programs. Looking ahead, they will explore future technologies like Nokia's 6G "network as a sensor" concept to enhance situational awareness and military readiness. This collaboration leverages Kongsberg's military communication expertise and Nokia's leadership in commercial 4G, 5G, and private wireless technologies to accelerate the integration of civilian telecom solutions into defense systems.
