Man Shot Dead by Police in Upper Merion

A man armed with a knife was shot and killed by police in Upper Merion Township after a confrontation early Thursday morning. The incident began when the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis Unit initially responded to a domestic situation but left to gather more resources. Shortly after, a woman called police about the armed man, prompting officers to try de-escalation tactics, including using a taser that proved ineffective. When the man continued to advance on the officers, they fired their weapons, resulting in his death at the scene despite attempted lifesaving measures. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the Bucks County District Attorney's Office investigates the shooting. The man's identity has not been publicly released.
