Microsoft's Autonomous AI Agents Launching Next Month

Microsoft is set to launch autonomous AI agents next month through its Copilot Studio, a move that intensifies competition in the enterprise AI market, particularly with Salesforce. These AI agents are designed to automate tasks like client queries, sales lead identification, and supply chain management, aiming to enhance workplace productivity and reduce repetitive tasks. Early adopters such as McKinsey, Clifford Chance, and Pets at Home are already utilizing these agents to streamline operations. The agents, which require no coding skills to create, will be supported by AI models developed by Microsoft and OpenAI. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasized these tools' potential to improve efficiency by freeing up time for more valuable work. This development comes amidst growing investor scrutiny on AI investments and competition from Salesforce's Agentforce platform, which has been critical of Microsoft's Copilot solutions.
