Indore School strip-searched

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the state government regarding allegations that a teacher at a government higher secondary school in Indore strip-searched five girl students to find a mobile phone. This incident, which occurred on August 2, has raised serious concerns among parents and activists, prompting social activist Chinmoy Mishra to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). The court has requested a report from the government within a week and emphasized the need for compliance with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Parents have accused the teacher not only of the strip-search but also of assault, further complicating the case. The teacher has been removed from her duties and reassigned to the district education office pending further investigation. The next court hearing is set for August 17.
