India Names Team for Asian Table Tennis Championships

Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra have been named captains of India's men’s and women’s teams for the 27th Asian Table Tennis Championships in Astana, from October 7 to 13. The men's team includes players like Manav Thakkar and Harmeet Desai, while the women's team features Sreeja Akula and Ayhika Mukherjee. The selection process emphasized world rankings, international experience, and national performance, according to the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). Coach Massimo Constantini expressed optimism about the team's prospects, building on their strong performance at the Paris Olympics. This championship is crucial as it serves as a qualifying event for the World Table Tennis Championships and the Asian Games. TTFI officials expressed confidence in the team's mix of experience and youth, highlighting their preparedness for the competition.
