OceanGate Co-founder to Explore Dean's Blue Hole

Guillermo Söhnlein, co-founder of OceanGate and Blue Marble Exploration, plans a new deep-sea expedition to Dean's Blue Hole in the Bahamas, a location often referred to as the 'portal to hell' due to its extreme depth and dangerous conditions. The team, including scientist Kenny Broad and former NASA astronaut Scott Parazynski, will explore this virtually uncharted 664-foot sinkhole, which poses significant challenges such as high pressure, complete darkness, and potential unforeseen currents. Local beliefs and numerous fatalities add to the mystique and risk of the site. This venture follows the tragic implosion of OceanGate's Titan submersible during a Titanic expedition in 2023, which killed five people, including co-founder Stockton Rush. Although the exact date of the new expedition is undisclosed, the team aims to uncover geological, biological, and historical data from this unique underwater cavern.
